Hormone Pellet Therapy

What is Hormone Pellet Therapy?

Hormone Pellet Therapy is a method of putting Testosterone and Estradiol hormones into the body of both men and women (men get testosterone, women can receive both). The hormones are pressed into very small cylinders that are inserted under the skin and release the hormones over several months at a constant rate. They are small, just a little larger than a grain of rice. The pellets we use at The Miley Clinic are made by a compounding Pharmacy that has been making hormone pellets for over 20 years. The production of Testosterone is highly regulated by the FDA.

Why should I choose Hormone Pellet Therapy and what are the benefits?

Pellets deliver consistent levels of the hormones for approximately 4 -5 months. This avoids the up and down fluctuations experienced with creams and injections. Also, with creams and injections some people don’t get the true benefit of their hormones because of non-compliance – they just forget to take them daily! Consistency is very important for optimal health. Research shows that Pellets do not increase the risk of blood clots and other untoward effects as seen in the synthetic hormones.

Testosterone therapy has so many benefits. Testosterone delivered by pellets has been used to treat migraine and menstrual headaches. They have also been shown to be excellent for relief of menopausal and andropausal symptoms, maintenance of bone density, restoration of sleep patterns, improvement in sex drive (Libido), sexual response and performance. In both men and women, testosterone therapy has been shown to relieve depression, relieve anxiety, increase energy, and improve concentration and memory. Testosterone delivered by hormone pellets has also been shown to decrease fat mass and increase lean body mass.

There is no more convenient way to deliver testosterone than with pellet therapy. Even those that have not done well on other methods of hormone delivery have a high success rate with pellets.

How do I know if I need Hormone Replacement Therapy?

If your labs reveal low testosterone levels or you suffer from the well-known symptoms of low hormone levels as described in our Hormone Replacement Therapy for Men or for Women sections, then you are a candidate and will benefit from this hormone pellet therapy service.

Early symptoms of female hormone imbalance are commonly dismissed as signs of aging or stress brought on by everyday life. This usually is confirmed by your primary care physician that this is normal, and you just must “live with it”. If they check your labs, they say you are “normal” when really you are in the range for others your age which is “low”! You do not have to suffer. Many women continue to suffer without realizing that perimenopause, menopause, and post-menopause do not need to cause daily symptoms with ongoing discomfort and distress.
